Offer a pacifier. Sucking on a pacifier at naptime and bedtime might reduce the risk of SIDS. But don’t use pacifiers with a strap or string, or ones that attach to clothing. WebNurses made visits to instruct on SIDS risk reduction as well as infant care. In New York State the cost of these visits were covered through Medicaid as well as through some private insurances.
